Postby loner » Fri Mar 28, 2014 9:24 am

this tom went down at 7.00 AM after another tom roosted behind me flew down in front of me to approaching tom and he came running at full strut to let him know who was the dominate bird.he weighted 22#,had 7/8" thick spurs and 9 7/8" beard.after walking about a mile to get there and back out with him in the vest,i was about done in. :D

Nice way to start your limit that you always kill! Way to go! Season opens here in the morning and I hope to put a tag on one.

not quite! i knew these birds were roosting in same area since opening day.sadly, with pastures surrounding the hollow i could see the birds in the trees and they could see me as well.i played with these birds and watched their travel for 12 days before stting up under cedars along edge of pasture.one of the gobblers was rooted 50 yards behind me and did not see me slip into place.btw,i have hunted this area last 20 years and hunt everyday since i am retired.i don't have to take a gobbler each time i could.my setup has produced same results over the years
