My hunt lasted about 20mins we roosted some birdss I went in before daylight and set up about 75. from them when the red birds started I made a limb call one gobbled imidately I waited a.few mins made a fly down cackle they flew and lit about 30.yds to my right the hen passed in front of me and the two Tom's were still to my right I tried to turn on the Tom's.they busted me and ran the.Bearded hen stopped.25 yds in front of me so I took her it wasn't till I picked.her up.I realized it was a hen

Congrats. I dont think I could shoot a hen in spring time. Even if the bearded ones were legal. I know my Dad used to say that the bearded hens make the best mammas and would never shoot one. Now I believe that is where most non typical multi bearded gobblers come from. Anyways, congrats.

Stickers I don't shoot.hens either I was fooled by this bird they were in the yellow tops and it happened and all I could see was the head I knew all the birds had a beard got caught in the moment still a unique trophy it had 2 beards having a full.body mount I had heard of them but the first I have ever see.n will look closer from now on

More than likely high male hormone levels. But that is just a guess. Pretty common though. Must remember that a turkeys beard is just feathers. Not the kind we are accustomed to calling feathers but feathers none the less. It is estimated that 10-20% of hens have beards. I dont think it is that high in the hills but inside the levee it is quite common.
