Lots of hens, no toms

Postby tblue » Mon Dec 22, 2008 9:44 pm

Now don't beat me up to bad, i have a rookie question, matter fact i don't even turkey hunt, yet. But anyway, I have own my property for over 4 years and i have seen normal hens, Grey looking ones, 19 hens in one group and all they way to lone hens. But i have only seen one Tom on my land. Why is that? He must be a busy bird!! i'm located 10 miles north of Tylertown. thanks 8)

Not all of them where gray or grayish color. it was only 2 or 3. All the other ones had normal color these 2 or 3, stuck out like a sore thumb. I will have to try and get a pic of them.

Thanks for all the input, and after a little research, they could be just a couple of studs in the woods taken care of all the ladies. 8)

This time of year the boys are in their bachelor groups
I saw one while hunting last week that had 3 longbeards, 4 with 6" beards and 3 or 4 jakes. Not a hen in sight.
A little later you will see the old boys starting to mingle with the girls again :2TU:
