11/05 youth hunt PM 60• winds 10-15 SSE

11/06 AM winds 5-10 SSE we hunted the "skybox". Time changed and we got in the stand at 5:45. We seen 2 squirrels and a few crows, I had just about giving up on seeing a deer. After a few txts to Mr. Terry I checked the forum and was in the middle of reading Glenns post and looked up and 2 does were in the plot. I nudged Matthew and told him to get ready. A few seconds later I realized he hadn't moved. Well he was watching a movie on his iPod touch with ear buds and didn't hear me. I got his attention and helped him get his gun out the window and he cocked the hammer on his 243 youth handi and blasted her. She jumped and kicked at the shot and I could see the hole. He drilled her perfect in the shoulder. She ran app 40yds with a 2' wide blood trail. He trailed her up and was all smiles

12/15 Pm NW winds 10-15 hunted barn loft. No deer seen this hunt
12/16 AM pouring rain
PM hunted the skybox. Had 5 gobblers in plot when I arrived at 1. 6 more gobblers fed through around 4. Had 4 does come in plot around 430 and fed for about 5min. The largest looked into the bottom and backed up out of plot, then all followed her. I figured either hog or buck spooked her. About 20min later a big black boar stepped out. I dropped him in his tracks. He dressed out at 190lbs.

12/17 N winds hunted barn stand. At around 715 a button head fed up the ridge and stayed around for 45 min. At app 8 a doe crossed the shooting lane and I could tell she was being pushed. I had my rifle up and ready but heard something to my left. As I turned to see what the sound was a good buck crossed the shooting lane. I stopped him and had a small opening at his vitals and missed. My shot clipped a tree.
PM hunted same spot and seen a small 8pt and a 6pt but the large one didn't show.
12/18 AM hunted burnsville. Seen 2 bucks and a doe and fawn.
12/19 PM SE winds I hunted ladder stand in bottom while buddy hunted box on ridge. At app 430 a buck came from behind me and at 1st glance I thought it was a young 4pt. After it crossed the creek I was watching I realized it was a 3.5yo 7pt, but I didnt want to fool with trying to get him across the creek so he got a free pass!
