Hunting Opprotunity at Muscadine Farms

Hunting Opprotunity at Muscadine Farms

Postby WVHunter » Thu Nov 21, 2013 11:40 am

I have been selected for the Dec. 8th hunt on Muscadine Farms WMA. I am allowed to bring 3 guest hunters and am looking for some hunting buddies to take along. This is my first year duck hunting and I'd like to have someone along that can show me the ropes and can teach me how to successfully and ethically harvest these beautiful birds.

I would go but I'd either kill every duck that flew by and you would hate me for that. Or I would miss every duck that flew by and you would hate me for that also. :?
Im just a dirtbag that lacks the necessary skills to hunt like a real hunter, so I just sit in a tree for a few hours in the morning and evening.

Hey j2dirtracer if you wanna go let me know. If you kill every duck that goes by, great that's meat I can take home if I miss em. If you miss every duck that goes by; well that's why it's called hunting and not killin lol

Good luck....Muscadine Farms can be some good hunting if there are other hunting parties out there, the last time i hunted there the only ones hunting was our party and one more so it was slow hunting because the duck were not pressured enough to keep them moving. Muxcadine Farms is a bunch of old catfish pond that the state took over and set up for duck hunting. Hope y'all have a great hunt.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back in here but work has been hectic since the trip. Smacko's son, my friend kris, and I went and had a blast. Smacko's son got 4 (2 scaup and to shovelnose) and wI got am first duck (shovelnose). We only saw one group of mallards but we couldn't get them to come in. People were sky blasting like crazy, but we still had a great time. Pics coming soon.

Hunted there last Sunday, birds numbers were low. What was there either headed to the refuge or were too high.
