Dove Fields

Postby gtk » Wed Aug 24, 2011 9:27 am

Anybody else excited about opening day of dove season? I know I am. I look forward to it every year.

The place I hunt has changed from "its all about getting the limit" to "its all about the kids". Our dove hunting group of buddies most all have kids old enough to hunt now. We have a skeet thrower and will make sure the kids have something to shoot at.

Then we all gather around in the shop, and cook a huge lunch. The wives bring deserts, and the menfolk grill venison and redfish, and fry up a bunch of crappie. Making myself hungry just thinking about it..

Hoping its not 95 degrees too.

Opening day of dove season is one of my favorite days of the year. I make bbq and beans and such and lots of folks get together and have a fine time. Sometimes we kill lots of birds...sometimes we don't but I still have a fine time.

Looking forward to it. This is going to be the first year I get to take my oldest son with me. I hope we see some birds, not many flying through our fields right now.

Find a skeet thrower.. Makes it fun even if no birds are flying.

Try dipping them in butter before the flour. They have very little fat content.
