"Bear"

Postby jbullard1 » Fri Dec 23, 2011 8:25 am

This is the second time in 2 weeks that I have missed "Bear" the large bobcat,
He either leads a Charmed life or I am just a bad shot. I'm thing the latter.
Apparently it found the deer carcass last night and fed on it some then came back about 8 this morning for some reason.
Anyone know why it was scratching all around the tub?

video is marked private. cant see it

bobcat:
it will often prey on larger animals that it can kill and return to feed on later.
On the rare occasions that a bobcat kills a deer, it eats its fill and then buries the carcass under snow or leaves, often returning to it several times to feed.
It keeps on the move from three hours before sunset until about midnight, and then again from before dawn until three hours after sunrise.
Bobcat activities are confined to well-defined territories, which vary in size depending on gender and the distribution of prey. The home range is marked with feces, urine scent, and by clawing prominent trees in the area

AS Bobdc said, cats try to bury the leftovers. It will continue trying to "cover it up" even if it cannot do so.

Hope you get him.

His name is Lucky... just look at the video....................... I have missed him; and I call it a him because of size, 2 times already at 200 yards and 1 time in the summer at 165 so!!!! I'm thinking I have cut into his 9 lives a little.
Now I will be more selective in my shot placement because this Cat deserves a place in my cabin

Ever thought about moving your cabin closer to the tub? :rotflol:

And since you wired the tub to keep everything from getting to the guts, what are you planning to do with a putrid pile of deer innards?

I drilled 1 1/2" holes in the bottom to let out the putrid natural fertilizer.

But some time tomorrow I WILL move the tub closer to the Cabin In The Swamp :2TU: :2TU: ie 100 yds or less
the cabin is on 38 yards of concrete and my John Deere just is a little shy on muscle to move the Cabin
