We made our last trip to Abilene Dove hunting for this season today. It was 59 degrees this morning and the front pushed the birds south so we had to hunt a little longer to kill a limit but we goterdid! High flying birds are harder to kill but fun to shoot! I had to change choke tubes to a full and improved modified to reach the little rockets. I had shot improved cylinder chokes every shoot until today. It's been a good year I've been on four hunts and killed a limit of white wings plus a few Eurasian ring necks every trip!

I had one of the best dove hunts ever on December 31, 2011. There weren't many ducks to speak of, so we went dove hunting...birds everywhere. The October hunt can be rewarding as well. Nothing like a little mid-season break from deer and ducks to shoot some doves.

I hope to get in a good hunt the second season in Jan. I love shooting Doves early or late!
