This mornings hunt. I've been three times this season and killed a limit each time.

Congratulations, back when I used to shoot um, I always broke the law. I figured a limit was how many I could eat at one sitting. 12 would not work for me. Lol

They fly faster than deer. If the one you were shooting at had another one flying behind it, you probably would have dropped the one behind every time. Lol

I only found 12 this morning. I was shooting in tall sunflowers and finding them was tough. I had to go strait to them as soon as they fell and still lost several. The limit is 15 here and I got 57 in 4 shoots.

i cleaned our doves a new way this year (new to me) . I saw a video somewhere, where someone cut a slit by each wing bone, then slid their thumbs up the breast bone & out the back.. Then they just peeled the breast meat off.

i tried it and by the 2nd dove had the method down pat. It will make for some easy roll ups or poppers.

My buddy showed me that last year. Works great!

when you cook it, I assume you either cut the "cooking time" or back off the heat some? Seems like it would cook a lot quicker without the breastbone ?

Yep. I pull it as soon as bacon looks safe to eat.

Good point Mike. Just how fast do deer fly RoadRanger?

I have been removing the breastbone for years. You can't cook them fast enough for folks if you wrap bacon around the dove with a little cream cheese and jalapeno pepper. MMMM MMMM
