Hey y'all!

I was wondering how I can lure and keep squirrels and rabbits on my property.

To elaborate, I mean how can I get them to come to the property and stick around without having to constantly feed peanut butter, corn, etc.

What is your property like? Rabbits need brush and cover as well as food and water sources. They love the tender grass in food plots. Squirrels need trees, pines and hardwoods. Food source. I would think most wooded area's have squirrels. You also need to be aware of predators. If the property was over hunted before you acquired it, it may take several years to bounce back.

To key off what LH said, I'd try fertilizing your oaks, pines, and any other mast producing trees you have for the squirrels. You might try feeding them for a while to attract them. I'd think that once you get them established, they would stay unless your trees aren't producing.

If all else fails, call our self-proclaimed Squirrel GOAT, Bullie.

Lee, he said he wants more squirrels. He doesn't want them all wiped out. You know that no squirrel stands a chance of surviving when Bullie shows up. He Takes all of the credit, but Jiggs is the real star of that show.

Now lets slow down a little, Lee may very well have a great idea there. If AlabamaDan were to let is slip that I would be hunting the areas around his place I am sure the squirrels would literally run with the rumor and likely take refuge on his land. Great idea there Lee.

Only a few are so lucky as to be related to Bullie. The rest of us can only aspire to such unattainable greatness.

Funny guys....

To answer, the area has lots of brambles and while it's mostly pines, there are still spots of hardwoods. I see the concept of feeding now to lure them and then the natural foods can keep them. Just good ol' deer corn good?

Bring a truck load of live traps to my lease. You can relocate all you want. We got more squirrels than I can shoot and quite a few rabbits too.
