I use the 30 dollar wal-mart special and it works pretty good for my needs. I wouldnt mind upgrading my rifle scope sometime though. Needs to pull in more light on those full moons. :rotflol:

I use nikon's 8x25 atb while hunting. Small, compact and less weight but I hunt
in the woods and thickets. If you're mostly field hunting I'd go with a 10x40/maybe even a x50. If you think you're gonna purchase binos that will function just as a spotting scope would ( counting points from miles away) forget it.

I've looked thru pentax 10x40 lightseekers, just as good if not better than nikon, but they aren't cheap.

I want my binoculars to be lightweight and not bulky, yet still crystal clear. Thats why I chost the nikons I have.. You are not going to get good lowlight performance from the small compact ones..

I don't know about pentax, but ziess does make excellent glass...

That's a Good point GTK, but I choose the lightweight route and have No regrets.
I might lose a few minutes compared to the x40's but I don't have to lug those all day either. Plus I'd rather put my money in the scope for those last few minutes instead of a bino cause you can't shoot or kill with a bino.

Leupold Golden Ring HD in 8x42 for box stands.
Leupold Cascades in 8x42 for ladder stands.

Nikons are great optics as well. For the price, the Monarchs are hard to beat. With that said.......all of my optics are Leupold.

Well, I looked through every pair within my budget ($1000) that i could get my hands on. Leupolds and the Zeiss Conquest were really nice, as were the Nikons, for the price. I was not impressed by the Steiners. I decided on the Pentax DCF SP 10X43. The image just popped out at me more, and i kept going back to them..Impressive for $700.

Nikon Manark 10x50 when hunting with a gun or muzzleloader. 8x25 simmons when bowhunting. Thinking of upgrading to a 32 or 40 for bow hunting.
