Thanks for the offer JV but I think that would stick out past the barell.

Ernie, i lied to you, my barrel is 28 inches long on the .50 T/C Hawkins and the ramrod is 28 5/8 iches long not 31 inches like i said...i had a .45 one time that had a 31 inch barrel and that where i got that from.

I made the one i use in my T/C ...i broke the one i had so i got a 3/8 hardwood dowel and cut it the right lenth and turned the ends down with a wood lathe so that the brass ends would fit it tight.

One of those big flat-rate boxes would be less hassle. :)

Please folks DO NOT go and buy a hardware store dowel rod to make a ramrod... If you are serious then spend 25 bucks and get a brass one.
I have had a splintered cheap ramrod thru my hand  painful is a mild word...
All my guns have wood ramrods,, just for show.. but when in use I use a brass rod or a stainless steel range rod
I even have a brass ramrod for my 32caliber that I have never shot

jb, every black powder gun i have has a aluminun ramrod except the .50 cal. T/C Hawkins and i have one for it but have not cut it to the proper length and put the ends on yet. I have not hunted with that gun in a couple of years.

Been there...cost me $900 to have a chunk cut out of my hand a few years back...went in between the ring finger and little finger on my right hand. Heard it crack but thought if I cleaned it nice and easy I could keep on shooting for awhile...could've bought alot of powder with what that cost me. That's when I bought the brass one. The .54 I use the wooden one just when hunting and a range rod for all my shooting. Broke 2 ramrods for the little .40 longrifle before the custom one came in...it's wood with a steel core but I use a range rod for it too when just shooting. I've heard folks say the wood ones only break if you're holding them too high when loading...that's a crock I'm here to tell you. ;)

Well, I finally found some blue striped pillow ticking at the wal-mart in Amory. No one around Columbus had any and I hated to just order that so I put in off. I got 100 round balls for $16 a while back and could not find the patch material. Now all I gotta do is go make some smoke! :ylsuper:
