No 500 pound lions around here. Might be some 200 pound lions and 400 pound Feral Hogs.  Ut-oh, I forgot about Big Foot. I think a .50 caliber would be the mininum for one of those.

Back in my younger days I had a .58 caliber Hawken. Read an article where Val Forgett had taken the big 5 in Africa with a Navy Arms .58...if memory serves me correctly it was a cut down Zouave. Loaded up with a conical mine could take the big 5 here in Kansas. :)

I started out with the .54 Hawkin.
Went to the .50 Kinght disc rifle.
now on the 45-70 for last few years.
My .35 Whelen bbl just came in for my Encore.
I'm hoping that will be my new favorite.

30-06 is over 100 years old why can't it be a primitive round?

Spitty is still posting on WS...betting he'll wander back around before long. Haven't seen much activity out of the others. Izak was in the process of moving last I heard, so he's probably busy JB.

I like shooting my .50 cal Hawkens with buffalo bullets. It gives a good knock down up to at least 150 yds.
