And it ain't good. Will never buy another Zebco, product. Results later, when I am through. Lew's is the only way to go.

Got the Quntam KVD combo for my son. I was testing it out and the micro guides on the rod and the eleven bearing reel were giving me fits. Gonna stick with the Lew's, which I have come to love. Was using identical line and lure, but could not cast the Quntam, without back lashing. May be the dual breaking system. I have not set the internal break yet.

Same here...my last two bought were the Ambassadeur Royal Express...that's been 25 years ago and they're still going strong. Had a couple 5000's for years but they both met untimely ends. Caught a lot of fish with them though. ;)

Finally got the Quntam casting, I am sure Jeremy, will enjoy it. But after using the lew's, I will stick with them. The Quntam, has a slight noise when reeling that I don't like and doesn't seem as smooth as the Lew's.

to add to the others...I've got a 5000C that I've had since 1975 or 1976. The original rod had a pistol grip on it. The rod is long gone but the reel still works great.

I used Garcia, for years myself. Mine were 5000C also. After a divorce many years ago they disappeared along with some fine firearms. Haven't used baitcast reels in years, so was trying out new stuff. I did however try the Garcia combo in the same price range as the Lew's, and as chadbragg had said it was a no brainer. The lew's one hands down.

I've heard good thing about the Lew's and if I was looking for a new one, I'd have to take a serious look at them.

Not bashing any of them. But after chadbragg's, reviews to me. I am glad I tried it. Smoothest reel I have ever used. Will be getting one more for myself.

Abu Garcia makes some great rod and reels I have have owned a number of 5000's as well as 5500's but I got to where I like spinning reels better than bait cast so that's about all I now own and several of them are Abu Garcia but that being said Lew's make a great rod and reel also so I might give them a try.
