Wanting some 45-70 brass to cut down to 45-60...was hoping some of you that don't reload might have some you might want to get rid of. I'll reimburse for the shipping.

Quig...I think I've given all my 45-70 brass away except for about 3. :(

I will have to rummage around in the garage but I think I have several boxes/bags of once fired Hornady brass. It is shorter than other brands so I haven't used it. But, it sounds like a perfect candidate for cutting down for another cartridge.

Those would be perfect Bullie...almost a 1/4" comes off of a regular 45-70 case. Let me know if you find them and I'll give you my address.

im not sure if I have very many. I'm pretty sure I havent put 25 rounds down the pipe of my 45-70... and have no real intentions on ever sending any more down.

Q47/70, I've got my eyes on a 76 repro. When you cut do you have to ream or is the ID ok. Think I'll try smokeless first if I can trade with the guy. What grain boolits are you shooting?

ID is ok. All my work is done on an RCBS Trim Pro Power Case Trimmer. A 45-70 case is 2.100 and it gets trimmed down to 1.880 for the 45-60 case. Then it goes right to the RCBS case prep center where it gets chamfered inside and out. Pretty simple. ;) Course there is another step that thankfully doesn't apply to my rifle...the rim was thinner on the brass for original 45-60's...but most of the repro's will accept the 45-70 rim as is. When I first got my dies I bought brass from Buffalo Arms to get started too. They were 45-70 brass that they had trimmed down to length and rim thickness...damn near a $1 a piece if I recall. Found out mine excepted the thicker rim so there were no more high dollar brass that had to be bought.
The bullets I'm using for my smokeless load are Sierra 300 gr. flat nose hollow points. The cast bullet I'm using for blackpowder is a 300 gr. flat point from a Lyman mould. Don't like it so I'm in the process of figuring something else out.

Pat I'll be expecting that lone case. :)

What powder do you run in the 45/60? I'm using RE7 in my Browning 1885, Marlin and Contender. A whole lot less in the Contender than in the Brng.

QS,
I found about 30 of the Hornady cases. I thought I had more. I am pretty sure there's more. At any rate, I have some. Shoot me a pm with your info and I will try to get them out to you soon. I will do another check of the brass buckets before I send them.
