Gonna head back to the house and pull them out of the smoker at noon. Those are sold, will put the other four on when I pull those off. Maybe by tomorrow I can have a hindquarter in it.

Jv, these were 5 1/2 lb baking hens, I found for a dollar a lb. Don't know how juicy & moist they will be but they look good to me.

Jv, I learned a lesson again. Don't be fooled by price. These were the worst smoke chickens I have ever cooked. I pride myself on my smoked chickens as others do. So glad I decided to try one before I took them to the gentleman who wanted four. So glad he wasn't having a function. Just wanted them for future meals. When I came out of the woods at noon they should have been at 165 degrees, they were only at 140, checked the cabinet temperature and it was cooking at 250 degrees as set. Pulled them and put them in the oven to finish and still took two more hours to reach temp. After resting and slicing, they were tough as leather and a bitter off flavor.
Got them at Save A Lot and don't know the name. I threw the packaging away.
Which is what I will do with the birds.
Pilgrims Pride from Walmart, is the best I have found and won't try and save a dollar again. Won't even give these to the cats or dogs.

Dug the bags out of the trash, from Southern Farms in Seminary, Ms
Even in the oven, they will not cook above 150 internal temp. This after 7 hours. Never seen anything like it. You can't pull the meat off the legs with pliers, and no meat on the breasts.

That makes me want to share that I bought an off brand ham, Clifty Farms, from Kroger. Don't get those. They are tough greasy and taste just like a boar hog smells. Feeding it to dogs.
But those are pretty birds, even if they are tough.

Not just tough, but bitter off taste. Won't make that mistake again. Bad part is that as a rule, I will not buy meat from Save A Lot. Broke the rule and paid the price. No blame but to myself.
