Instant pot question

Postby flipper » Mon Jun 25, 2018 11:59 am

I have a recipe I like that I do with cubed venison steaks in the crockpot. After breading and browning you put them in the crockpot with cream of mushroom soup, Lipton onion soup mix, onions..... It’s pretty basic. I was just wondering if it’s okay to do that same recipe in the Instant Pot (obviously altering the cook time) or do you have to cook the steaks and add the gravy ingredients later and not heat under pressure. Anybody know?

I have never did that exactly but can tell ya when I've tried to do a "gravey" it usually comes out real watery.

The answer to you both. Yes flipper I do pretty much the same recipe. And like Chad, stated sometimes your gravey will be a little on the thin side. Don't panic, it ain't the Titanic.
I learned years ago, no matter what method you are using to prepare a meal. If your gravey is on the thin side. Just add any brand of potato flakes to thicken, in fact all of my gravey, is made with potato flakes, as the thickener. It is fantastic.
