Bow Season 2012

I debated all last year about keeping a journal and never did anything about it. But since this year has started off so well I decided it might be interesting to keep up with times and areas.

For opening week of bow season 2012 I have hunted only on Deep Creek Hunting Club. The property is 118 acres, mostly in pines, but has a small creek running down the middle with a large strip of hardwoods running down each side of the creek. The property is thick and grown up.

I have 2 primary stands at this point, the north creek stand and the south creek stand. both on the west side of the creek because that is where trail access is now.

I hunted every day of the season to this point. I have seen deer everyday. At the north stand I am seeing them across the creek and south of me in the woods.

At the south stand I have seen does middle of the day and afternoon. Most with still spotted fawns with them.

It has been an exciting week for me to be able to see so many deer. I have seen bucks on several hunts but not close enough for a bow shot. Except once. I did not see a deer all of the bow season in 2011.

So that is kind of a synopsis of opening week.

I was wondering what the meaning of that five dollar word was.
