Dang what a shot. 480-500 yards one shot clean kill, with the lowly 30-06..
I took Honey Bee with me as I walked back to where I shot the deer and I started my tracking job... which took about 20 minutes doing it my way.
Honey Bee kept telling me the deer was over here when you shot it.
Typical man I am I didn't listen to her.
Well when I found where he came out of the water it was RIGHT WHERE SHE SAID IT WOULD BE.and 10 yards into the woods my buck was stone cold dead without much of a blood trail even though the bullet destroyed its lungs and had an exit wound.
He was in the water following a doe.
My Tracking Fyce didn't even have to get her dress wet.

Thank you jerry I absolutly love this sport had a change this year in the way I am use to hunting changing to a crossbow and gun hunting more I learned some valuable things about the crossbow not without some down falls lost a couple deer got too comfy and made some mistakes I took it for granted I could not make a.bad shot well that wasnt the case I found the crossbow deserves the same respect as my compound and practice makes perfect. I absolutly hate to loose an animal whether it be a buck or doe and I lost one of each this season a fine 8 pt and shot the biggest buck I have ever taken on public land and recovered him on the third day by the way I checked him with my last buck tag in ark. I also killed two bucks I would not normally take the first one a 2 1/2 year old 6 pt on public land there was 2bucks after a doe and I shot the wrong one the other a 3 1/2 year old 8 pt fine deer but I usually let them walk on private.land but it happens I miss judged him I have let 2 more go as.big.or bigger than him but both were 8 pts I have a freezer full of meat I have put up 5 does and 4 bucks im sure my kids will lighten my load during christmas going to enjoy some.grandpa time if I hunt I will.take.the. crossbow I have put the browning up for the year merry christmas to all

Shot this deer Monday evening. When I checked for blood I could tell I made a gut shot. I decided not to track the deer at all and come back at daylight. I found him within 200 yds after an easy track job. Unfortunately the coyotes had eaten most of the hind quarters. I cut the head off and put a camera over the rest of it, so I should get some pictures of the thieves in action. Hoping to upgrade later with a 10 pt I have gotten on camera a few times.
