What do you think a flintlocks maximum effective range is? using my 54 caliber loaded with 70 gr fffg

I've held a flintlock.

Yes, they would be reliable.. The worked for many a years :)

Maximum range, I'd guess to be 150 yards or less, totally dependent on the shooter.

I have only fired and held one flintlock many years ago!

I think it would be reliable enough if you know your gun well!

I have no clue on effective range! Just a guess, id say out to 90 to 100 yards

Never fired one but have held one

As far as reliable, they worked for many years and as long as your keep you powder dry worked pretty good.

Far as range, i would also say that depended on the shooter and how well he knew his gun...but i say it should shot as far as the percussion cap guns.

1. Happen to own one.
2. As reliable as any firearm. Extra precautions are needed if snowing or raining though.
3. Up to the shooter.

saw too many Daniel Boone tv shows. All that fire and smoke would have my eyes shut tight. Couldn't hit a deer at 10ft with buckshot.

As for effective range is it rifled or smooth bore?
