Hearing amplification

Postby patinlouisiana » Wed Oct 26, 2011 5:16 pm

I'm thinking I need to get something to help me hear them coming.
After a lifetime in a machine shop I can't hear diddly squat.
Do any of you use amps? If so what do you recommend?
In the ear or muff style?
Waiting to "hear" from you :welcome:

Interested in this too.. All I can hear these days is a constant high-pitched ringing in my ears.

I picked up some walkers game ears quad muffs at a steal in the bargain bin at Cabela's sevsral years ago. I now have four sets of power muffs. I love the things. That said they would probably be a pain for bow hunting. They work really good on cold days. I prefer the quad microphones because you can tell which direction the sound is coming from to a greater degree.
I know just enough to be dangerous.

Well I read several reviews.
Watched a few You Tube videos and used my $200 gift card at Bass Proshop.
I bought the Walkers Power Muff Quads.
I will do some tree rat hunting this weekend and I’ll let you know what I think about them.

Well I went out Saturday morning with my new headgear at slay tree rats.
What a difference. I could actually hear them cutting and barking and snuck up on them.
Shot 8 recovered 7.
I guess I'll have to invest in some type of hearing aids so instead of asking my customers "What?"
I can say "Of course we can do that!" :bash:

I too need some hearing aids. Luckily I started wearing hearing protection before I got serious about shooting, but I still damaged mine plenty before I started wearing muffs.
I know just enough to be dangerous.

Second pair quit working on the right side.

I'm still using my Howard Lieghts after 3 years. I let some guys try them at a pistol shoot I went to and they all said they were gonna buy some..

FYI.
I also wanted to let you know that with both pair I would have to turn my iphone off or it would cause background noise.

schoolmarm, does your Howard Lieghts have any iphone issues?

I realize this is an old thread but there was a guy at the southaven gun show selling in the ear devices that are customized for your hearing needs.they weren't cheap but they looked like the cats meow and they also served as hearing protection
