Went to Check The Gas Line

Postby terry08 » Sun Oct 30, 2011 7:08 pm

I went to the gas line to pick some turnips this afternoon. Have not been there since last weekend. The rape was eaten to the ground, and all turnips which were big enough to harvest were stripped clean. There was a very large scrape on the edge of the patch with the branches of the over hanging tree being stripped clean. I would think this was a young buck getting ready to show his stuff, except for the fact that the scrape was three feet in diameter and the limbs were severely broken.

With the weather they have had north of us. Any thing is possible.

My farmer friend up here is seeing scrapes on the edge of his bean fields.

I've seen several scrapes and some rub lines being hit already. All of my buck pics have been at night the last week and half.

I've never seen a full blown rut around here but I see the most chasing and daytime buck movement around the 1st week of dec.

Found this about 50 yards from this spot too. Not a huge rub but they're starting to get in the mood I suppose

You northerners are about a month ahead of what we have down here in the south. It's usually the last week of December into January when we get kicked off.

If they took away our late muzzle loader season in Feb we would not get to hunt the rut down here.
