10/5/11 Hinds county warm slight breeze from the sse. hunted shortys ridge with lots of white oaks and most are dropping. The ridge falls off into a creek bottom that is thick with old hedge brush... At 6;15 had 2 does come under the stand and both had oung ones with them so they got a pass for another week or two... Had 2 small bucks feeding along the trail I walked in on and they made to the 35 yard mark but they had hall passes as they were young.

Great hunt and got to see deer and it was very relaxing after the day werk had presented me...

10/13/11 hinds county 59 degress no wind whatsoever and damp with a heavy dew after last nights rain... Hunted at my dads farm between raymond and edwards. Hunted a ridges top that has 2 huge white oaks on each side of a saddle in the ridge. Saw some deer right at first light but could not distinguish what they were. Then about seven had a coupe of yotes come through trying to stir something up but couldnt get a shot on them.

note usually cant shoot anything at the farm except 3.5 yr old or older bucks( because so many does get shot by neighboring farm and camp). however my Dads freezer went out and he lost all the deer meat I had given him and the elk meat a freind had give n him, he told me shoot a couple of does at the farm if I got a shot during bow season....

edit note had wrote the 12th down on everything yesterday and realized what was going on

10/15/11 pm hot 84* winds swirling from nne to ssw Copiah county Sit a climber on a ridge that runs between two food plots and bordered on 1 side by a 2 yr old cutover. This stand is in older pines but I am set up on 3 big white oaks that are dropping and the trail cam pics show several does coming through every day between 6 and 7 pm.... The neighbor is planting his plots in the 2 yr old cutover and with the tractor noise cant hear much but I have 3 red headed woodpeckers putting on a great show. Neighbor parks his tractor at 6 15 and it seems like the woods come alive with crunching leaves and acorns getting cracked.... but from my stand I can see any of the deer that I can hear. The nuder brush is so thick where I have the stand,,, I wait until 7 30 to depart and have deer going everywhere. but none seen

10/16/11 pm Copiah warm ssw wind I decide to hunt the same ridge as yesterday but I move my stand to the western side of the ridge and more to the bottom. I am 40 yards from the property line cutover... Finally at 6:30 i see movement on the firlane cut between the 2 properties... I have 3 nice does walk the firelane(which is located on neighbors property). They walk past and never venture on into our property... As shooting light is fast dissappearing I have 2 more deer that have come out of the cutover and into our woods. They are 60 yards out and feed across out in front of me never getting anycloser. It was dark enuff in the woods I couldnt determine what they were.... I stayed in the stand till they had time to feed on off and left,,

I really enjoyed finally seeing deer in the woods seems like forever since I had a deer sighting

10/29/11 am 36 degrees slight breeze out othe n themn switching out of the south

Hunted my lease in Hinds county set up on a turkey toe ridge that draws down to the lake. Lots of acorns and a spot the deer come to water. At 7:15 had 2 does and a spike come through feeding at 10 yards on of the does looks up at me and gives me the feeding head fake.. she turns and walks right in front of my stand. while behind some trees I draw and as she comes from behind the trees she looks up again. She then goes back to eating and is quartering away and finally stops As I go to pull the trigger she takes a step to the left and I cant stop the release and I hit her high and back in the front part of the hindquarter. I watch her and my lit lumennock and mentally mark her trail... I settle back into the stand as I know its a bad shot but still early so I wait to see if a buck will travel through and disgusted with my shot. 8:15 a lone doe comes feeding through and at 9:20 three more does feed up a ridge across from me.... My buddy and I meet at the truck and go to see if by chance I could find the deer I shot, we found great blood and trailed for a mile or so across 2 neighboring properties(with permission),,,, no find

10/30/11 34 degrees winds light and variable Hinds county . I decided to return to the scene of the terrible shot and at 6:45 had a doe walk right under the stand but didnt have enuff light to see my pins on the bow so I watched her feed through the bottom and up the next ridge. At 8 am had 4 does feeding along the lake headed my way and one on top of the ridge behind me feeding down the trail I come in on.... I turn ever so slightly in the stand for a shot at one of the approaching 4 and the deer behind me bust me....she runs off and the other 4 simply turn and walk back the way they came.... Disgust sets in but I figure its still early lets just see what happens. 8:40 I have 2 does a fawn and a 2.5 yr o;d cow horn scow horned 3 pt come through the bottom left to right.... I decide to shoot on of the does ane the first one to step through the shooting lane seems to be the mamma of the fawn.... I wait on the 2nd doe to step into the lane and she stops in the exact same place as yesterdays uh oh but broadside. I release the rage and she goes down. from the angle of my height the rage gets one lungon exit and part of the back bone on entrance no tracking necesary.... She expires quickly and I give thanks for what God has provided me with.... I nock another arrow after my prayer and realize the 3 pt has not left I watch him for the next 30 minutes as he eats along the opposite ridge but wouldnt get any closer than 48 yards.. what a beautiful and great morning to be outdoors

11/11/11 pm Hinds county hunted a food plot close to the lake on a pipeline in between two ridges that are covered with acorns, Windy conditionas and warm made for a long sit and getting to watch deer on the next two plots down made up for it. watched 2 does and a youngen feed in the next plot from 3:45 till dark. A buck entered the pipeline 2 plots down and came toward the plot I was on but didnt make it into the plot untill it was too dark to shoot but getting to watch this gave me a good feeling for the upcoming Wheeling sportsman hunt we were going to have.

11/12/11 am Hinds county chilly 39 degrees slight breeze out ot the sse. 2 buddies on this lease with me took the children to hunt plots that we alwasys see deer on so I decided to go to the other side of the property so as not to bother anything that may give our guest a shot... I get settled in my climber on the edge of the lake. 6 55 have a doe and 2 yearlings feed through. at 7 30 I have 5 does feeding through about 75 yards away.. after about 10 minutes of watching I decide to shoot the buggest of the 5.... I take ain sqeez a round of on the trusty ole ML and when the smke clears i am still watching the same 5 does as all they do is run to the top of the ridge and continue feed.... I cant get reloaded before they fedd on off outta sight. I hang teh ML in scabbord and climb down to go look for any sign of a hit... at 50 yards I find a 2 inch oak sappling cut clean into.....climb back up in the stand and continue hunting. At 8 45 have 2 small does and 2 button heads feed along the edge and get them a drink of water at 10 yards .....stayed in the stand till 10 30 nothing else seen

11/13/11 am 49 dg and a strong south wind hinds county

after a complete skunk yesterday we meet with our guest and have a discussion about the full moon and strong south winds... We decide to get the children and their fathers to buddy stands and hopefully they can make a connection... I take Kyle and his dad into the ridge I was on yesterday and 12 deer on and get them settled into a buddy standthat is set up about 60 yards from where the climber I was in. Cliff and Bobby take Joeseph and his dad to a stand that is close to the property line on a slough that is surrounded by some oaks that are dropping good,,,, Kyle and his father text me at 940 and they are heading out so I go meet them... They didnt see a deer... Joeseph and his dad give us a text at 9 50 and they are headed out, they did see a small 4 point but couldnt get a shot on him..

after all of us gathered back up and they ahad to be at Bass pro by 12 noon we told them that when the weather gets right and they can come back down we would take them again and get them a deer

though no deer were harvested I really enjoyed being in the outdoors with these fine young men and know God has truely blessed my friends and I for being able to take part in this hunt
