Thursday evening hunted with the inlaws @ Ripley. Sat at the tractor shed, immediately had a fat doe come out 15 yards from me, but too close to move to shoot her.

Few minutes later a crippled young deer came out. It would take a few steps and fall down. Get up, take a few steps and falldown again. It finally started feeding in hte corn field, while laying down. It tried to get up a couple times and would fall back down. I went ahead and took him. It must have been hit by a car, there was no obvioius trama to it, but neither tendons on its hind legs were "attached" right, and had some scaring on one leg..

You did the right thing. Coyotes would not have been so merciful.
