high end flashlight preference
So you guys who invest in top quality flashlights, what do you recommend? A buddy just got a Fenix LED for xmas and i looked at it today and it looks awesome. I was looking at the Fenix TK70 earlier and that thing is a beast. Pricey though.

I have a cheap one that is rubber coated, then replaced the dual AA's with 3 C123 and a krypton bulb. saw it on a forum once. the hard part is finding a light base that will accept the 123 batt size in diameter

I also have a trp D cell mag that I keep in my truck. I'd like to beef it up with a new reflector and whatnot

Re: high end flashlight preference
for the price, I've found the 3D cell LED maglite hard to beat. Its very bright, shines as far out as I need and runs for days. I accidently left one on for 2 plus days and its still got battery life left.

Here is what I use. I found it on clearance at walmart for $5. It uses 3aaa batteries and will out shine my 3d mag. When I saw how bright it was I returned and bought every one they had! Its now a highend light but is bright!!!

I have a flashlight made by "Rocky" that I got from Sams Club. That sucker is bright ! I love it. It came in a two pack, one is 6" and the other is 4". Paid about 19 bucks for the pair.

I've never been a fan of spending tons of dollars on any equipment that is easily lost or stolen. I used to do that. Until I crushed an expensive cell phone in the tailgate of my truck and saw friends lose similar stuff over the side of boats. Too much nice stuff has also "walked off" when left unattended somewhere. For me, a cheap $20 rechargeable 1 milion candlepower "headlight" style light will work just fine. It will light up half the universe at night and I don't have to worry about what happens to it.

I use the little coleman brand lights from walmart. They are 120 lumen and are very tuff. I use em daily offshore. They are $25 and aren't but about 5.5" long.
