I know I've asked before, but what is the minimal acreage you would want to take your dogs out on a hunt for?

what are y'all doing Saturday afternoon ;)

More than anything else, it depends on what is around the acreage to me. If it is a road, well that worries me because my dog might try to cross. Most of the time I can call her off of ajoining properties if she goes over and trees so that is rarely a problem. I have had lots of good hunts in less than 50 acres though. Sometimes a good big less.

Roads worry me the most.

No roads except the road you have to get to the place on...

trying to get permission for a hunt.. one place, about 40 acres of mature hardwoods, but has national forest on three sides.. 4th side is the road

other place is around hundred acres.. no roads.. mature timber, but the timber is separated by hayfields.. timber is probably in 5 -10 acre blocks

I like hunting the woodlots. It can be fun. Sounds like plenty of room to me.

If I'm hunting Stroker it really don't matter how big or small,he is gonna hunt where I tell him or point him and he don't range out very far. Now if I hunt my puppy that's a different story, she hunts wide open on the run and will be 3 or 400 yrds before i know it and she hasn't got the same handle on her yet that Stroker has. I've hunted spots as small as 10 ac before but kinda like Bullie said roads still make me nervous,my wife said I trust Stroker too much
