Anyone planting in the spring or summer? What do y'all plant and do y'all let it stand for early bow season or mow it down and replant?
Thinking about trying the eagle beans this year with corn mixed in.

I plant corn usually late June. I'll go ahead and prep fields for clover in the fall

Iron clay peas is hard to beat! The deer has let mine get established before eating it. I plant 65-70 pounds an acre broadcast with no weed problem because it's thick enough to choke the weeds out. I break ground about 3 times. Each time two weeks apart so the weeds are not growing at all when I plant. I plant about may 10-15 with good results for me.
You would not believe the amount of food that is produced per acre in an iron clay pea plot!
It is always a good question if they will have it eat up by the time for fall planting, but most of the time they have it eat down just in time to plant a fall plot at your regular planting time.

This is a plot with a mix of 40 percent iron clay peas, 40 persent soybeans, 10 percent sunflower, 10 percent sorghum.
This is also a good mix, but I think the peas are a little better.
The peas puts on some kinda growth and they will eat peas and vines.

Iron clay peas crossed my mind already too. Think I might try that in another plot. How many acres would be the minimum on the clay peas ? I've heard people with 1/2ac plots eaten up before it is really growing good. My plots range from 1/2 ac to 3 acres

I have heard the same thing about them eating the peas up.
You could try one plot like you said. I think mininum 1 1/2 to 2 acre minimum size.

If you have a large deer head it may be more challenging.
I think the deer numbers in a certain area is the biggest factor.
You Prolly have a larger deer heard than me.
All you can do is try a couple different types of summer plots and see what works for you.
I have never planted corn so I don't know about it.

I'll be planting a summer plot for the first time this year. Been doing alot of research, and it seems that corn, soybeans, and iron clay peas is the way to go. Planning on strip planting an acre of each on a 3acre plot.
