Bow Season 2013

Bow Season 2013

Postby LadyHunter » Wed Oct 02, 2013 6:02 am

First day is in the books. Enjoyed the hunts but no deer.
I got a late start in the morning, due to Mom duties, so I hunted the farm stand where I killed the does last year. I feel like I was just to late getting in there. It was a beautiful morning but did not see anything. On camera I had both bucks and does visiting the feeder there during the morning hours.

Afternoon hunt was very hot and humid. I hunted the North creek stand on my lease. I have both bucks and does on camera here, and oddly enough no hogs, though I have hogs on pic in other places on the lease. I enjoyed the hunt but did not see anything. It was hot, humid and very still

Doug made his first hunt with his crossbow, he saw one doe. He told me it was way to hot to be hunting a shooting house, but other than sitting in a chair in the open that is his only choice.

Very hot and humid. Today will likely be the same. Had a small buck in my plot as I was coming in yesterday evening. Good luck to all

Been loving the cooler weather this week. I have only been able to hunt afternoons. I currently have a lot of work, so mornings are work
Sunday afternoon I hunted the South Stand, it has not been disturbed in the planting etc, but did not see anything.
Monday and Tuesday I hunted the North creek stand, but did not see anything. Well I did see a small young coon.

Been hunting mostly afternoon, without a whole lot of luck. What I have seen has been at a distance or not a shooter. The peanut fields they are harvesting around me are killing my hunting right now.

Friday and Saturday I did midday hunts due to the full moon. On Friday I saw quite a few, they seem to be eating acorns. Most of the does still have spotted fawns, proving what I thought that last year we had a later or longer rut.

I hope the cooler weather makes them move more.

I believe the rut was really late last year. I was still seeing fresh scrapes in February.

November 1. Bow season a month in. This bow season is going to go down as one of the worse on record for me. But finally they are harvesting the last of the peanuts and beans, and no grass has been planted there yet so I have the only grass for them.

With the cooler weather I am seeing more movement. I hunted the north east creek stand several days. It seems to be a good spot and in the mist of the oak trees, with a view into the stream bottom they travel.

Today coming out of the hard woods after dark I walked up on several feeding in Dougs food plot. I also had one run out in front of my truck as I was putting my bow in. Just my luck!!

Hunted the north stand yesterday did not see anything from the stand, but coming out had a doe blow at my light. Doug hunted his blind and food plot, he saw a doe with a fawn that still had spots so he would not shoot.

I went to my new stand on the new food plot down near the creek today. That is going to be a good spot especially for gun season. The grass is doing pretty good there to.
