I got #2 this weekend

Postby brewer03 » Mon Apr 21, 2014 8:14 am

Eater morning I went close to home for a quick hunt and was able to get bird #2 in the bag(no pics because the temporary phone I am using camera don't work). It was a 2 yr old with a 6.5 inch beard 1/2 spur no spu on one leg and weighed in at 15 pounds... It was a beautiful Easter morning to watch the sun come up. I had set up around a beaver pond and heard six gobbles but they were a long ways and 2 of em were across the property line so I just sit tight for a bit and decided to go to another spot back up the hill about 830. I ease into a lil gum thicket and sit down on a pine tree and I make a few soft yelps and I get an answer only about 75 yards away. I have 2 long beards and a jake stroll in at about 50 yards and they are looking for the hen and cant find her so they turn and head away... ease my slate into my lap and purr they wont gobble but the 2 longbeards break into a strut... and come back in but I cant get a shot ... They ease on to my right I purr and cluck and they turn around and come back this time at 40 yards the 2 long beards go behind a pine and I let the 870 bite the first one that steps out and it was the 2 yr old....
