Finally got to work on the property!

Postby e_smith06 » Wed Sep 03, 2014 8:52 pm

Got all the lanes and roads bush hogged back down and 4 plots disked up today.
Seed purchased. Plots will need to be turned over again before planting.
I have located 6 fruit producing persimmon trees and one water oak that has some small acorns. (Pretty good considering the whole property is a pine thicket).

Cleared a half acre to start my persimmon orchard this winter.
Deer sign and pics are minimal this year. The 80 ac bordering us was clear cut this spring, seems to have hurt the deer numbers.
Gonna do some more scouting tomorrow.

Sounds like the persimmon orchard will be a great future bow spot!

I'm kicking myself for not getting started last year! I've got all the 1' saplings flagged for digging though
