vortex scope

Postby sidog » Mon Sep 22, 2014 5:11 pm

Anyone try a Vortex scope? I'm a leupold guy and have not had much luck with low end optics but I've read lots of good reviews on Vortex and they have a lifetime warranty. I have a 222 I want to put a bigger scope on and was thinking about trying a 4 x 12 x 40mm? Any thoughts about these scopes?

i shot with a guy Sunday afternoon.. He had one on his son's 7 mag.. 403 yards & he was nailing a 12" steel plate every time.. I was impressed , but don't know if i'd want all those knobs on my scope..

I bought the Vortex and it's clear enough but I had to order taller mounts for my old Sako because the bolt touched the eye piece ? It's an early 1960s Vixen .222 . Oh well if the vortex does'nt suit me I have a 3x9x50mm leupold that will work with the taller mounts.
