Ammo any easier to get?

Postby huntall » Wed Jul 30, 2014 4:08 pm

I need to get rifle ammo for myself and a couple different boxes of ammo for my two
Boys before deer season. Last year we just made do with what we had, and now we all need ammo.
Last year they never had what I needed.

Guess I better go ahead and try to find some incase I have to change up a little.

Is it any easier to find ammo now, or is it ever going to be back like it used to?

I love hornady, but last year they put a stop to about half of their line"temporarily" to increase
certain popular rounds.
I have not looked, but hope that has changed!

I guess it's just a hornady thing. I have a 300 winmag and the 150 gr round that I shoot was put on hold and not being made.
I don't have the link anymore, but it was pages full of rounds that was put on hold.
I guess I will see if they have an updated link.

It's crazy as much ammo we produce at Winchester and u can't hardly find some of it. I did manage to get 500 rds of .22's the other week needless to say I've been there a year on August the 27

yeah, still don't understand why 22's are still so short unless folks are still buying them up like crazy.

exactly.. .22's are affordable (when found in stores) and folks buy them "just because".

Haven't seen much in line of 22's here for a while....I bought a 500 round box a couple months ago and haven't seen any in the store since. I shoot Remington in my .270 and WalMart has a good supply of them but I have several boxes now. In my .35 Whelen I shoot hornady and have three boxes but the store I get them at in Clarksdale had a good stock of them. Lakeway and Hunters Hollow usually keep a good stock.

shhh its still pitiful.

I got an email notification, from midway, earlier that they had just received a lot of 162gr 7mm amaxs. I was pretty quick to jump on it b/c I have none left other than about 20 loaded rounds. by the time I stepped to the computer and found em, put 4 boxes in the shopping cart and went to check out 2 boxes were gone. By the time I got my credit card info put in(couldn't remember the number on the back) the other 2 were gone and I was left with an empty cart.

ok selection here now but 22's still hard to come by. Wal Mart shelves are bear. but sporting goods and hardware stores have a good selection.

we are lucky in one sense, but you may be the lucky one, because as long as you can get powder, then you can make more..

i'm glad I load my own rifle bullets, but I sure would like to have 22's to shoot for fun

Academy sports, they are a little high !
In 2012 they had plenty during the shortages.

I've seen 22 ammo online for pretty cheap. No issue with my 130gr 270 corelokt.

The more common calibers seem to be fairly easy to find, with 22 being the exception. The more specialized it is, the harder they seem to be for me to find. I hunt with a 300 WSM and had to change manufacturers, but have been able to find plenty of them. Every ammo store I go in, I ask for 22's and will occasionally get some. They are always limited, usually 2 or 3 boxes.

Ran upon some 22's in walmart a few days ago but was a three box limit. I got three boxes and left but was back in the store a couple of hours later and they were all gone.
