Ruger American Not Grouping

Postby jbullard1 » Mon Oct 20, 2014 11:39 am

I've been really disappointed in my New Ruger American 30-06 with the poor groups it shoots.
I've changed the scope twice and still was getting 3" at best groups at 100 yards.
Well today I found the reason.

Well I thought I was but after today I may have to retire. :W: :W:

The problem was loose action screws. After torquing them down and a few more rounds I shot this 300 yard group.
Now to let the shoulder recover and adjust the scope to be dead on at 300.

47.5 gr Varget pushing a 168 gr Speer Gold Match Hollowpoint in LC69 brass and Winchester primers.
OH! the Vortec Viper 6.5 x 20 scope has plenty eye relief.
