First off new to forum enjoy reading and finally joined...I am from the Hernando area. Well my daughter after many yrs of trying to get her to hunt with me decided to make my day and told me Monday evening she wanted a gun and wanted to start hunting with me....Which blew my mind but made my day....So off we went Tuesday evening looking at youth guns holding, etc....She decided on a model 11 in .243....Just wondering yalls input on this gun...Never owned a Savage but did read some good reviews. ...Sorry for long post....Thanks for any input...

Welcome to the forum.
How old is she ?
I bought my 10 year old son a 7mm08 youth that he can grow into with a spacer for the butt stock when he gets older.
The 708 is 7.2mm and the 308 is 7.8mm
The 243 and the 708 are pretty much the same as far as recoil, if you stick with the muzzle velocities around 3000.
Oh yeah ! The 243 is 6.2mm with a 308 case like the 708.

Welcome Dawg.. Good to see another Desoto Countian here :)

The model 11 has the adjustable trigger on it I think.. I bought my son the savage axis, and we are happy. i think the model 11 is a step or two above the axis.

You may have to try a few different brands of ammo that it likes, but it should more than get the job done..

Excellent gun. Only 2 factory made guns I will purchase nowadays are Tikka and a Savage 11. I think you will like it. Those 2 guns will shoot just about any round sub moa.

if I was not reloading for 243, i would try the federal fusion 95 grain. That shot the best in my son's 243 handi rifle. His axis is a .270 and we reload for that one....

I have a Savage model 11 in .243...also a Stevens Model 200( exact same gun...different name) in 7mm-08. Both shoot better than I can hold them. Not real picky on ammo. I prefer Remington cor-lockts. Any decent bullet put in the right spot will do the trick...cost effective ammo allows more practice...which in turn helps out with puttin it in the right spot!

Thanks for all input....Bought 2 boxes to try in it....fusion 95 grain and Cor-locks in 100 grain....Once again thanks for input feel a lot better about the purchase now....

Welcome Dawg!

Bought my son a model 111 in 30.06 a few years back. Its got the accutrigger and is a tack driver. The accutrigger is the best out of the box trigger I've shot. I think you and your daughter will enjoy it.
