Brayden

Postby RoadRanger » Tue Nov 25, 2014 2:44 am

As most of yall know my son Brayden had open heart surgery yesterday morning. He did absolutely great and it all went off without a hitch. We are very blessed to say the least!

Just an updated, He is off the ventilator and talking 90mph now. Not in too much pain thanks to the powers of medicine. I just took a 3 hour nap and now mom is taking my place while I stand watch with him. He don't wanna be alone in ICU which is understandable. I am on the forum and he is up watching the Lego movie lol.

Its amazing how only 5 hours after going under he was already asking to eat and to walk around some which is a no no right this second. Keep him in those prayers everyone. Still got a ways to go

I am glad to hear he is doing good, and hope that he continues to improve. Children tend to have the ability to bounce back faster.

They are gonna be sending us to a private room sometime today and allowing him to finally eat and drink. This poor boy hasn't had any food or drink since Sunday around 8 pm. He LOVES to eat so I know he is missing his food lol

Hang in there Ranger, don't loose it. You are the one who will wind up in jail. So sad.

How old is your son?

Just to ease your mind, I had open heart surgery in 1968 with no problem. I played high school football and had no restrictions..

Prayers for a quick recovery...

Like Smacko said, he should make a quick recovery and come back strong...my step-son (don't really like that term) had open heart surgery when he was 5 back in 1980 and has done great every since then.

Not sure if they still exist. They were a God, send to us.

Quick update. Brayden is doing absolutely fantastic. I got off work and he was up doing laps around the fifth floor! Even walked across the hospital to McDonalds for some food. He is in very little , if any, pain and is acting like he would any other day of the week. He is 10 years old and this is his 2nd heart valve replacement. His first was at 5 weeks old. The valves only last around 15 years but they were able to put a full sized adult valve in this time so next time they can do the valve repair out patient in a day with only one small incision and he wont need to be split wide open any more.

ALSO we were moved to a private room just a few hours after the issue with minorities I had so its nice and quiet here in our room on my air mattress. Ahhh Happy Thanksgiving everyone
