Yesterday's Hunt

Postby jv » Thu Mar 19, 2015 6:29 am

Got to the area I wanted to hunt but there was two truck's setting there already so I went to my second choice. Got in and set up and just about day break I heard one back behind me and off to the right but knowing the area I knew he was across a big creek and hoped that he would fly down my way. I also knew he could fly down the other way and go to a big hardwood flat and up into where I wanted to got to start with so guess what happed...yep he went the other way. He gobbled about five times and never heard him again and never heard a shot from the other hunters.
I set up on corner of a field but just don't think there are enough insects in the grass yet for the turkey to hit them that hard. I was hunting on Malmaison on a permit draw hunt.

Yes Terry it is still early. If I had beat the other hunters there I would have been down in that hardwood flat but I was a little late leaving the house and it was a hour drive down but I still was there a good hour before daylight. I was hunting in the hills along with everyone else, to much water in the delta area.
