Muzzle loader?
Just my guess but I would say a squirrel gun in .32 or .45.
That is for traditional. Can't say for the inline Guns.

I will agree with Pat, most of the time a smaller caliber projectile will be more accurate than a larger more heavy one.
Now that said I have a T/C Hawkins 50 caliber that would be comfortable shooting 150 yards with a patched round ball. And a 50 caliber inline out to 250 yards.

If shooting round ball I prefer a 54 cal 1x66 twist barrel. If shooting saboted conicals the 45 and 50 are great with a 1x28 twist barrel
