Good luck Loner! I know you'll limit out again as you always do! I saw two groups of long beards yesterday evening in a coastal field close to my place so I'm fired up already!

I am ready to get this one underway. I will be hunting public land turkeys for the first time. I've only hunted turkeys for the past few years and have yet to connect. Got so close so many times, hoping the national forest will be kind this year!

We have a great turkey population on a couple of my leases. One of the properties the birds do not gobble. I usually spot and stalk or sit on plots. Decoys spook the birds on this place as well.

i hunted public lad for many years and will pass some of my tips along.1]hunt during the week if you can using vacation or personal days 2] start your hunt after 9.00am to give the crappie hunters time to leave 3]remember,that gobbling does not stop after flydown, they will gobble all day especially when alone after hens leave 4]if another hunter is in the same area,go to another spot nearby and return after they leave 5]if you hear another hunter from the road using owl or crow calls and the tom answers from the roost, give soft yelp or cluck to let him know where you are and shut up.he will probably come to you quietly when he hars hunter coming to him 6]i never tried outcalling another hunter.soft call and quietness better than the racket.hope this helps . remember everybody in the woods is not neccessarily,as good a turkey hunter as you are . :)

Great tips. My hubby and son in law have always been big turkey hunters and both always so that to many people over call.

I saw 8 on a place close to my house the other day. A little small place that I seemed to stay on them last year. Glad to see that they are back!
