Saved a bird!

Postby chadbragg » Sun Mar 13, 2016 8:06 pm

Yesterday morning my son wanted to go hunting by himself, so we went and set the blind up on a clover plot in a pine thicket behind my mother's house. I told him where he needed to park and everything I thought he needed. Thanks to plot watchers I knew there were birds using the plot. He said just before 7 there was a large group of hens including a long bearded hen (9-10") and as they were feeding he said they spooked and went everywhere. Then he saw why a coyote was stalking up on them. 1 shot from his 12ga with 3" winchester XR #4 did the trick. When I asked him if it ran be said no it rolled! It's his 1st yote and he was very happy!

are you having as tough of a time as I did, letting your son hunt on his own?

Great job! It's hard to let them hunt alone. I worry constantly.

I am. I really wanted to go with him, but he insisted he go by himself. I assumed that ment so he could sleep in and not go, but to my surprise he did it! It's tough seeing them grow up!
