Thanksgiving Is Coming

Postby terry08 » Sat Nov 12, 2016 3:46 pm

Had to test a new smoked turkey concoction, before serving it to the family. Letting it rest before carving. Will let you know how it turned out.

No award from me. Although I am not a fan of turkey anyway. Give me a chicken any day. Sherrie , will be home tomorrow and she can judge. I won't be doing this one for family, I will use my original recipe.

I myself like a deep fried turkey over a smoked turkey anyway. Even in dressing I prefer a hen over turkey.

I have found that my family prefers my traditional cooking for the holidays. They don't like me to mess with what they expect to be on the table. I will drag out the rotisserie for my turkey. It is always so moist.

I injected this one with Moore's wing sauce, mixed with 1/2 tsp of pink salt. Let it sit in the fridge curing for 24 hours. Not what I expected it to taste like.
Back to the cutting board.

gotta agree with you there, jv. Thanksgiving is about the only time I eat any amount of turkey. I even prefer sliced chicken to sliced turkey on sandwiches.

The Judge, came home and ruled it to be fantastic.
I don't know about most of you grill masters and chefs. But as for me, after spending time over a stove, or grill. I never want to eat. I just want everyone to enjoy.
Well Sherrie, got home and after getting settled in. She went to the fridge and got a couple slices of turkey breast.
She said it was perfect, just the right amount of smoke and the wing sauce was a perfect complement.
Let me say she does not give compliments if they are not earned. She then fixed me two turkey sandwiches, with mayo, lettuce, and tomato. I must say they were wonderful. Nothing like I tasted yesterday. Often times we can't taste the food after smelling the smoke.

I think those sandwiches sound great. Unless often find fault with my cooking where others do not.

Before the day was over, I ended up eating five turkey sandwiches. As I said I am not a fan of turkey, but those sammies were great. I was thinking again, and that's dangerous lol. I took a small bag of ranch doritos, crushed them up in the bag sprinkled them on one with the lettuce, tomato and dill pickle slices, oh my goodness, I am on to something. Was in bed at five and now up at one AM, and thinking about a turkey sandwiche. Gonna be a long day.
