Any pistol hunters?

Postby chadbragg » Sat Dec 10, 2016 1:34 pm

I have had this on backorder for last 2 months. They called me Wednesday to tell me it was in stock and on way. I picked it up and topped it with the vortex venom and she's dialed in! Hope to take a deer with it soon. It's the glock 40 mos in 10mm. Image

That's sweet, I've always wanted to shoot one with a pistol. I have a 44 mag that was my fathers gun with a 6 inch barrel. Might give it a try soon

I occasionally drag this old Ruger out of the safe.
It has done in a few does.

That would have it shooting 6" low at 100 if 0 at 60.
based on 180 gr with MV of 1180 & 1.5 scope height.

What are you shooting?

Scope height is less than an inch as its mounted directly to slide. Its shooting about 3-5" low at 100 best I can tell with 3moa dot.

Sound about right. I calculated a heavier Hornady bullet.
Now I got the itch to carry my pistol out next week.
Guess I need to go practice first!

I took it this evening but didn't see anything to shoot. I killed several with my g20 in the past, but I stopped carrying it after I missed a nice 8pt at 40yds many years ago.

I am somewhat conservative and don't shoot it much beyond what I used to limit my bow to.
30-40 yards is about my comfort zone.

In my youth I practiced on gold balls. as my eyes gave in I went to tennis balls then soft balls.
I hung it up when my target panic got so bad I would miss the block at 20 yards :bash: :bash: :bash:

I killed several with a Super RedHawk and used to hunt with a TC Contender a good deal. Most times I carried a long gun too.

Chad, You inspired me to take out my fathers pistol this weekend. Going after anything within range with it. It's a Taurus 44 magnum tracker with open sight but is dialed in. Shooting 220gr hollow points.
