Had a close encounter this afternoon

With.....

I watched him all afternoon feeding on acorns and walking back and forth across the field I was watching. He finally came walking straight toward me (I was standing on the ground on the edge of the field) and I had the crosshairs on his chest at about 40 yards or less. Safety was off......I let him walk. He finally saw me and after a few seconds, he turned and ran a few yards and stopped. I waved my arms at him to make him go on and leave. Then I came home. Hope he makes it to next year, although if I see him again, things might be different.

You better than me flipper, not killing one this year I probably would have taken him....anyway the way I see it I might not be here next year so I probably would have shot. But then again killing one is not what makes a great hunt, I have hunted more this year then last year almost twice as much and it's been a fun and memorable year.

Flipper, I usually (but not always) have willpower, but not that much. I admire your restraint.

I have killed 2 bucks, so I can only kill one more. I have until Jan. 31. I can kill a doe or two. I need to be selective from here on out, but I do love hunting and I do love the excitement of the kill. I think the memory of how exhausting the processing after the kill is has vanished from my mind, so I may become weak as the days pass on.

Very good flipper, sometimes it's just fun to watch in awe of such beauty. They really are amazing animals. I myself will let one walk shortly after cleaning and processing. The idea of dressing another one, just keeps me from pulling the trigger.
