Whats happening in your neck of the woods ?

Rosie

So this new place I hunt has an Arkansas deer that was rescued as a fawn and lived with the lady who saved her. She was very tame like a dog and would walk right up to you. They have an orange collar on her so nobody shot her. Well she is now 4 or 5 and not so much a pet but has become wilder.

Apparently she produced some great bucks so they said they won't shoot her till she is old and no longer producing fawns. Her owner has moved so she doesn't come around as much now days to the houses.

This girl has got me shaken 3 times in 24 hours. Just 10 minutes ago I was walking in with the sun in my eyes and 17 degree wind blowing in my face. With vision not the best I see a silhouette at the wood line. I throw my rifle up, flip my safety off and could just see the outline of the collar. DANG IT ROSIE!!

I walked up to her to 25 yards and she walked away not knowing my voice I guess. She still follows some folks she knows to the stand and walks around as a live decoy throughout the hunt I'm told. Where can I buy Rosie treats to get her on my team I wonder.

Carry an apple with you each hunt. If you see her offer it to her and finally lay it on the ground and walk away. If she doesn't show, you have a nutritious snack. That's how I got my wife to come around anyway.

So is this up at Eden? That's cool. Maybe we should try to get more Ark. does here to improve genetics.

Yes up near hillside refuge. She has had two sets of twins and a single this year. She looks strange next to a Mississippi deer. Black ears and just a strange looking body

I don't see the collar on her in the second pic.

Flipper neither did I at first.... I shouldered the gun, safety off and finger on the trigger when I thought I saw a line on her neck. I lowered the gun and used my binos and could make out the faintest line across her neck. If you zoom in the collar is as low on her neck as possible

It's still hard to see but those black ears sure stand out.
