Anyone ever tanned a deer hide? Do you know anyone who does?

I'm having one done by my taxidermy. He don't do them, but sends them off. Do a search on internet for hide tanning. There are a few in txs. A bunch out west also. Let me know what you find please

I looked online, but didn't really find any. Ask your taxidermist I'm sure they use one

My guy sends them to North Dakota. I had a couple bobcats and a fox done last year. They are soft tan and cost me $220 for all 3.

I don't want one to look that red!
I'd kind of like to do one myself, but it sounds a bit difficult.

Absolutely! It should have happened more than it did. The few times daddy did it were much more memorable though. I think it was more the thought of him doing it that there being any real difference in the severity.

My boy got a pretty red fox today. My guy charges $75. Just dropped his fox off. He sends them off as I said earlier

I googled before I posted this thread and it sounded doable, but tedious. I just wondered if anyone had done it and found an easier way. Makes me admire the native Americans of old days. Thanks all y'all.

   Dangit man they stuck it to you big time!
I send my furs to Moyle Mink and Tannery, http://moytown.com/ they do a great job and most furbearers average around $30.00 each. The furs are soft and ready for display.

Flipper, they also do deer hides but I've never sent them one or even priced them.

That's dropping animal off and picking up hide. I didn't think it was to bad. I figure we probably pays about that to get the tanning done, but he skins them and all so I'm OK with it. Always wanted to get a deer done.
