Even as a novice many years ago. I have never ruined or over cooked a Boston Butt. They are almost impossible to screw up. Unless you are just plain dumb, you can just look and know it's ready. Or slice into it and if it is not done yet, cook a little longer.

I agree. It's hard to mess up but i find its hard to hit it perfect so it'll shread. This one was spot on.

I agree they are hard to mess up but you can cook them till they are really dry and like said you can look at one and tell when it's ready
