Re: Slow start
Didn't find this one either I have been bow hunting for 50+ years And have lost very few animals shurley not 3 in a row I believe the 2 1/2" broad heads are too wide and bone deflects the arrow on impact resulting in loss of loss of kinetic energy I'm going back to a fixed broadhead

Re: Slow start
I'm not trying to be a back side but, I never understand changing something that's been working for me the whole time.
Yes I know without change things can't improve but archery stuff is different. Lot of little factors come to play.
Big Steve I think your making a good choice going back to the head you had great success with. I'm surprised it took a third deer.

The old saying, if it ain't broke, dont fix it is very true. Go back to what was working for you.

Re: Slow start
A lot of great broadheads out there.
I hate your having the mishaps you are. I went through this Tuesday and Wednesday with solid pass through and no blood from a fixed head. No blood!
Both weren't good shots but found both. Found them in their beds with not a drop of blood. Made me sick thinking I had wounded one but got lucky.
Hopefully you find one that works! I'm going to an expandable. After several blood trails those big cuts made a huge difference.

Re: Slow start
I have taken 80+ animals with archery tackle over the last 40+ years I have used many different broadheads have I lost deer in the past sure but I believe I have lost more with expandibles than fixed I got these new rage hypodermic crossbow heads from a friend a promo to see how I liked them he works for rage they are 125 grain 2 1/2 " 2 blade I'll have to give them a zero I was amazed that I got little or no blood trail I shot low on the first one but the other two were hit perfect and should not have got out of sight be careful of going too big if you shoot expandibles stay 1 1/2 and under bigger isn't always better

I love muzzys. I also like a fixed, though I have tried expandables.

I've killed two this year with grim reaper 100 gr. 1.5" cut and both went about 40 yds with good blood trails. I hate to hear about your luck this year I know your a stick and string guy and will get it figured out. Happy hunting
