Road Ranger, you said he didn't feel the recoil on your .270 WSM? Why not go that route, its a gun capable of 300 yd shots?
I have a Weatherby .270 with the wood stock and the gun has little recoil at all. My sons been shooting it since he was 13. The heavier wood stock helps with the recoil as well.

10-4. I guess I havent seen many. I bought a used one a couple years ago and I got what I paid for, ha . The gun looked like new but so far I havent been able to get it to shoot very well. I like them also especially after replacing trigger spring.

oh, ive seen some crap abolts for sale too :) the last one i looked at was so rusted in the chamber that you couldn't even put a shell in :? you would think the person trying to sell would at least try to remove the rust
