Make a portable bow press

Postby Rajun cajun » Fri Jul 28, 2006 7:03 am

I needed to take the tension off my bow limbs to change my peep.

I went to Wally World and the hardware store only buying two things......

I purchased a 3000 lb 6 foot hevy duty ratchet strap with hooks at Wally World.

Hardware store I got a can of PLasti Dip......the stuff you dip plier handles in to recoat them in plastic.

I went home and used a porta-band and cut the steel hooks off the ratchet straps (do not cut the loops sewed into the ratchet strap)

I then cut two (2) pieces of 3/8 diameter steel round bar and dipped them numerous times to completly coat them with a thick layer of Plasti-Dip. (let dry a few days)

Now all I had to do was slip the sewn loop end of the ratchet straps through the opening of my bows limbs where the cam is, slip one of the coated round bars through the loop, then pull out the slack in the strap and ratchet it tight.

Worked great, when broke down takes up almost little storage room and weighs next to nothing.
