Anyone ever use one ?
Thinking of picking one up , might come in handy soon. I've got rain gear for
drizzly days and carry a poncho when it's really coming down but when those drops
hit on the hood it sure effects my hearing. Sure would be nice to get out from under
that hood so I could hear/see better. I sure there will still be noise from the umbrella but at least it wouldn't be so close to my head.
Any more thoughts on this ...

I've got one.. The noise from the rain itself drowns out the noise of rain hitting the umbrella

I used one last Sunday afternoon during the big wind & rain we had. It did keep my upper body dry, but when the wind blew hard, it would invert the umbrella
.
When bow hunting, you have to hang it high enough to be able to stand, and that means your legs will still get somewhat rained on. I imagine if you were gun hunting, and the wind wasn't too high, it would keep you dry enough .

I understand what you're saying ... thanks for the input. When it's raining your hearing will be impaired regardless. So now it's boils down to being comfortable sitting out there in the rain and being ready if an opportunity presents itself. The comfort aspect is enough for me alone but not having to keep the scope lens dry constantly is another plus. Lens covers would help but I hate for my rifle to get soaked inside and out, so I put it under the poncho with me but then the lens fog up with condensation.
I'm thinking an umbrella just might be worth the money ... and hey If I order one it's Sure to quit raining everyday !!!
