Got to my stand on the edge of pine thicket that has powerline running through it.. There is 3 or 4 red oaks droppong within bow range of this stand... As I am climbin 2 does get up from being bedded on the power line so I stop climbing and try to watch them in the dark with what lil moon light is shineing through the clouds.... it starts to get a little light and I see the does ease on in to the thicket... I finish climbing and get sttled... at 845 i watch a big doe cross the powerline about 75 yards from me.. Sit until 10 am and see nothing else.

10/17 am hunt copiah county

Winds out of the north 48 degrees

Got to my stand early on an white oak covered ridge next to a cutover. Got settled in the stand and realized i left the quiver on the bike. Lowered the bow climbed down and jogged back to my bike got the quiver and was too outta breath to jog back, so it was a fast walk reclimb the tree and get settled in at 6;45 am.. At 7:05 a cow horn spike with at least a 12 inch spread and 15 inch beams comes through vaccuuming up acorns.. He got all the way up under my stand and thats when I decided to take him... as he fed out from under me I got stood up and ready to draw... He feeds out to about 10 yards from my tree into an opening and I start to draw and my bow made a click...... :bash: :livid: which sent him hi tailing it out of the bottom...

no other deer seen

10/24/09 am hunt Hinds county

cool 42 degrees wind out of the n w

Decided to hunt a stand on a power line that has a pine thicket on both sides. the stand is set up where 5 big ole oak trees are dropping acorns... Got settled into the stand at 6:10 am, At 6:50 am had a group of 5 does come into the powerline about 70 yards away and feed off in the opposite direction and cross over to my side. They went into the oine thickett... At 7:25 had 2 spikes a young 4 pt and a 2.5 yr old 8 point appear on the hilltop about 150 yards away heading in my direction.. They fed to the spot where the does had entered the powerline and entered the thickett there. At 9 am 2 small does and 2 spikes came into the powerline opposite of me and fed to the oaks that I am set up by... stayed until 10 am and saw nothing else

10/24/09 pm hunt hinds county

58 degrees winds out of the n ne

Decide to hunt the other end of the powerline on a stand with oaks around it and rite down from a beaver pond... Got settled into the stand at 4 pm... I immediatle had 2 small does enter into the foodplot that I am set up on and within minutes a smaller doe with a couple of spots still showing entered with them... at 4 30 a spike decided to join them eating in the plot.. At 445 I spot a doe crossing the beaver dam and within a couple of minutes 2 more does crossing the beaver dam going the other way(beaver dam is 75 yard from stand) At 5 05 I notice something moving in the growth on the back side of the beaver dam and it is a nice 8 point, as he eases along i see another nice buck behind him and its another nice 8. They are feeding and rubbing from south to north and then the 3 rd buck is spotted which is better than the first 2 so I get a lil antsy as they feed across the power line and away.. Then at 5 25 all heck breaks loose and the 3 bucks come crashing back to where they came from... Wandering what happened I sat there trying to figure whats up when a monster of a buck steps into view crossing the beaver dam goin away from me. at 100 yards and I had the shakes and knowing he wasnt going to give me a shot.... I watched him terrorize a cedar tree at 200 yards on the other side of the beaver pond for the next 20 minutes..All the while he is trashing the cedar I watch several does come and go across the beaver dam.... At 5 50 he eases off into a thicket. I have 5 deer still in the plot I am on just all are too small to shoot and they start exiting 1 or 2 at atime for the next few minutes... and over the next hour I see a few more does come and go across the beaver dam.....

Althouth Ididnt get a shot at anything it is a hunt I will rememeber for a long time
